A visual artist, primarily a painter, I connect with place and paint, slowly.
This year, exhibitions opened in March at the Whitehouse,
in Kirkcudbright, with 'Dreaming in Colour' and 'Memories & Imagination'
at Caerlaverock Wetland Centre.
Spring Fling Open Studios took place on 25, 26, & 27th May
at Gelston Village Hall, near Castle Douglas.
Brewery Arts in Kendal selected a painting for their Open Exhibition
held throughout June & July.
'After the Rain' at Hallbankgate Hub near Brampton, in September
and October, was a collaboration with textile artist Rachel Phillimore.
There are new paintings in Gracefield Arts Centre Craft Shop
from November 2.
At the Upland Made Art & Craft Fair, I shared a stand
with ceramicist Julian Francis,

I use a range of media and materials.
Small pencil and watercolour paintings are completed in the landscape.
More complex pencil and watercolour drawings and oil paintings on canvas,
using knives and brushes, are made in the studio over a period of months.
As a series develops, memory and imagination take over,
the abstract qualities of colour and form must balance. There will be revisions ….
layers of paint maybe scraped away, more added …. It is rarely straightforward.
