Suzanne Stuart Davies sketchbooks in studio

I studied painting & drawing at Liverpool College of Art and subsequently qualified as a teacher. I also have a degree in Philosophy and History of Art.

After living in Scotland for twenty years, where I took part in 'Spring Fling' Studio Trail and set up artist led galleries, I returned to Cumbria in March 2017.

Landscape is the source of my paintings and textiles. A narrative leads through experiences and thoughts, recorded in photographs, studies and notes in ‘journey books’, arising from walks. Observation combines with memory and imagination. New series of work develop slowly – paintings in oil on canvas or board, mixed media collages and hand-knitting.

'heafed' is one of a series of twelve paintings and collages 'A Year in the Country',  currently on show at Viridian Gallery in Keswick,
